How Invisalign Works
After confirming that you’re a good candidate for Invisalign, we will take impressions of your teeth (digital ones, not putty ones!). Then, we will create a series of clear aligners to move your teeth from where they are now to their ideal positions. You’ll wear each set for 20-22 hours a day and for 1-2 weeks at a time. Once you’ve worked through the entire series, we can determine if refinement trays are needed or if we can move on to the retention phase of your treatment.
Who Invisalign Can Help
Fortunately, Invisalign is quite versatile! The clear aligners can help patients with several orthodontic issues, including:
Crowded Teeth
If your teeth crowd together to the point that they overlap, the look and health of your smile can suffer. With Invisalign, we can gently guide your teeth into their properly aligned positions, improving your confidence and oral health in the process.
Gaps Between Teeth
Maybe you have the opposite problem: your teeth are spaced apart. If that’s the case, you should still schedule a consultation with us! Once we know more about your case, we can determine if Invisalign is an option (the answer is often “yes”).
Bite Alignment
Overbites, crossbites, underbites, and open bites can negatively impact your self-esteem, lead to chronic jaw pain, and increase your risk of dental damage. That’s why it’s so important to explore your orthodontic treatment options, like Invisalign, sooner rather than later.
Benefits of Invisalign
Even two decades after its debut, Invisalign is one of the most sought-after orthodontic treatments. There are a few reasons for this. So, if you are interested in learning some of the noteworthy benefits that come with clear aligners, read on!
You Don’t Have To Change Your Diet

Hard pretzels, raw almonds, whole apples, and thin pizza crust are just a few of the many foods that patients with traditional braces need to cut out of their diet. Since Invisalign aligners are removable, they don’t come with the same dietary restrictions. So, you can enjoy all of your favorites throughout the teeth-straightening process (as long as you don’t overindulge on cavity-causing ones, of course).
It’s Easy To Maintain A Healthy Smile

Maintaining a healthy smile is easy with Invisalign because the aligners are removable. As a result, all you need to do is take them off. Then, you can brush, floss, and rinse with mouthwash like usual! You don’t even need to buy special cleaning products to keep your trays stain and odor-free. Just use a damp, soft-bristled toothbrush and clear, mild dishwashing liquid.
The Average Treatment Timeline Is Shorter

Another considerable benefit of Invisalign: the average treatment timeline is only 12-18 months. Conversely, it usually takes patients between two and three years to achieve the results they desire with traditional braces. The key to staying on track and avoiding frustrating delays is following the guidelines to the best of your abilities, including wearing your aligners for 20 hours a day, every day.
There Aren’t Any Metal Brackets Or Wires

Naturally, metal-free braces come with aesthetic advantages, but that’s not the only perk. Since the aligners are crafted from smooth plastic, they are also considerably more comfortable. In fact, the only discomfort you experience will likely be from the movement of your teeth, which is a sign that your aligners are working!
There Are Fewer Check-In Visits

With traditional braces, patients need to schedule monthly adjustment appointments with their orthodontist to ensure continuous pressure is placed on their teeth. Invisalign works a bit differently by allowing patients to progress through portions of their treatment plan at home. Then, every 6-8 weeks, they come to our office so we can make sure their teeth are moving as anticipated.
The Aligners Are Quite Versatile

Oftentimes, patients struggling with crooked teeth, overbites, and other common orthodontic problems assume that traditional braces are their only option. However, patients with mild to moderate cases are often candidates for Invisalign. The easiest way to find out if clear aligners are right for you is by scheduling a consultation at our office so we can learn all about your dental history, needs, and goals.
